Drone Fertilizer Spreading in Oklahoma — 4 operators on one live map.

Dry spreading by drone applies granular fertilizer, cover-crop seed, and soil amendments evenly across fields and rough terrain. It reaches saturated ground, levees, and remote acreage a spreader truck can't, with precise variable-rate control.

4 Oklahoma drone operators offer dry spreading. Compare them by FAA Part 137 certification, equipment, per-acre pricing, and grower reviews, then request free quotes. This work is usually priced per acre; for reference, row-crop spraying in Oklahoma runs about $8–$16 an acre.

Questions

Drone Fertilizer Spreading in Oklahoma: FAQ

When does it pay to spread fertilizer by drone in Oklahoma?
When a spinner truck can't or shouldn't roll: saturated ground, a standing crop you don't want to drive through, rice levees and flooded fields, small or odd-shaped fields. The drone flies over mud and canopy, so the product goes on when your crop needs it, not when the field dries out. On dry, open ground, a ground spinner is still cheapest.
How many acres can a spreading drone cover?
It depends on your rate. A 26-gallon-class drone like the DJI Agras T100 carries about 220 lb, so one load covers about 2 acres at 100 lb/acre and about 1 acre at a heavy urea rate. With a field-edge tender trailer, one drone runs roughly 40 acres an hour at 100 lb/acre and 20 at urea rates. Two drones roughly double that.
How much does drone fertilizer spreading cost in Oklahoma?
Ohio State's 2026 custom-rate survey averaged $17.15 an acre for drone fertilizer application (range $12–$20), versus $9.68 for a ground spinner and $14.13 for an airplane. That premium disappears the day the spinner can't get in or the crop is standing. Oklahoma quotes vary with rate, product and field size, so compare a few from the 4 operators here.
What can a drone spread, and what should I watch for?
Granular fertilizer, cover crop and pasture seed, granular pesticides and soil amendments. Light, low-rate products are where drones shine; lime and other heavy, high-rate loads are still a truck job. For surface urea, ask about a urease inhibitor (NBPT) unless rain or irrigation will work it in within about five days. Unprotected surface urea loses about 18% of its nitrogen on average.
Does drone spreading need a licensed operator?
Yes. Dispensing fertilizer or seed for hire is an FAA agricultural aircraft operation, so look for Part 137 and Part 107 certificates and a Section 44807 exemption, since spreader drones weigh more than 55 lb loaded. Spreading a granular pesticide also takes a state pesticide applicator license. Every operator listed here is asked to document their credentials.
