Field area measure & drone spraying cost
Draw your field on the satellite map below to measure its acreage instantly — accurately enough to plan a real job — then get a researched drone-spraying cost estimate for your state and crop and connect with operators near you. Free, no sign-up.
How it works
- Step 1
Find your field
Search a ZIP or “city, state,” or tap the locate button if you're standing in the field, to bring it into view on high-resolution satellite imagery.
- Step 2
Trace the corners
Tap “Draw your field,” then drop a point on each corner. Tap the first point to close the shape. Drag any point afterward to adjust.
- Step 3
See your acreage
We compute the geodesic area on the WGS84 ellipsoid and show it live in acres, hectares, square feet, or square meters.
- Step 4
Price it & get quotes
We estimate the cost using researched per-acre rates for the state you drew in, then match you to nearby drone sprayers for real quotes.
How accurate is it?
Acreage is calculated geodesically — on the WGS84 ellipsoid that GPS and modern mapping use — rather than with flat (planar) latitude/longitude math. Planar math drifts roughly 0.1–0.5% at field scale and looks fine until it costs you on a real job; the geodesic calculation is accurate to better than 0.01%.
In the real world, a field you trace from satellite imagery is typically within about 1–3% of the true area. Almost all of that comes from how carefully the corners are placed, not the math — so zoom in before you trace, and drag the points to line them up with the field edges. This is a planning estimate, not a survey: for legal acreage, use a recorded plat or a surveyed boundary, and always field-verify before you contract a job.
Cost estimates use per-acre rates researched from land-grant extension custom-rate surveys and operator pricing, indexed by state and crop. Where a state has little data, we show a lower-confidence estimate and point you to operator quotes for an accurate figure. Estimates cover application only; product and chemical are extra.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I measure the acreage of my field?
- Pan the satellite map to your field, tap “Draw your field,” then drop a point on each corner. As you trace the edges, the tool calculates the enclosed area and shows it in acres (or hectares, square feet, or square meters). Drag any point afterward to fine-tune the boundary.
- How accurate is the acreage measurement?
- Area is computed geodesically on the WGS84 ellipsoid, which accounts for the Earth's curvature — sub-0.01% math error. In practice, a satellite-traced field is typically within about 1–3% of the true area, with most of that error coming from how precisely you place the corner points. Zoom in before tracing for the best result. It is a planning estimate, not a legal survey, so verify in the field before contracting.
- How much does drone spraying cost per acre?
- Drone spraying generally runs about $12–$18 per acre for row crops and $18–$35 for specialty crops, but rates vary widely by state, crop, carrier volume, and whether a restricted-use pesticide is involved. Once you draw your field, this tool estimates the cost using researched per-acre rates for the state you drew in, then connects you with operators for real quotes.
- Is the field mapping tool free?
- Yes. Measuring your field, seeing the cost estimate, and requesting quotes from nearby operators are all free with no sign-up required.
- Can I use this on my phone in the field?
- Yes — it's built mobile-first. Use the locate button to center the map on where you're standing, then trace your field's corners on the satellite imagery.
